The Experimental Music and Digital Media (EMDM) Studio at Louisiana State University is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 2023-2024 Electric LaTex electronic music festival on January 26-27. Electric LaTex will include three concerts featuring works by students from the studios of the University of North Texas, University of Texas at Austin, Tulane University, Rice University, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Texas A&M, and Louisiana State University.

All submissions have been curated by each school’s designated representatives and added to a concert order—see concert program links above, as well as the link to the sound check schedule.

Concerts will be held in one of two concert performance spaces:

  • The Digital Media Center (DMC) Theatre features 72 channels of audio through 96 speakers as well as 4K projection. Highly multichannel works are encouraged in order to take advantage of the capabilities afforded by this space.
  • Music & Dramatic Arts Building | Black Box Studio Theater will have 8 channels (plus sub).
  • Concert 1 – Friday, Jan 26, 7:30pm, Digital Media Center Theater
  • Concert 2 – Saturday, Jan 27, 10:00am, Music & Dramatic Arts Building | Black Box Studio Theater
  • Concert 3 – Saturday, Jan 27, 2:00pm, Music & Dramatic Arts Building | Black Box Studio Theater
  • Concert 4 – Saturday, Jan 27, 6:00pm, Digital Media Center Theater
  • Installations – Both days, throughout the day, various spaces in the DMC (DMC Theater Foyer, and 2nd floor)

Post-concert activities:

  • Friday night, post concert – head over to The Chimes, so we can all hang out! 3357 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802
  • Saturday night, post concert – end-of-festival party with live DJ-ing at Pelican to Mars, 2678 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806
