High Voltage April 27 & 28 – End of Semester Concert

Our end-of-semester concert series, High Voltage, will be held on April 27 and April 28, 2015.

Concert I will be held on April 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall. The concert will feature class projects of the Introduction to Computer Music class.

Concert II will be held on April 28 at 6 PM in the Digital Media Center 72-channel sound theater, and will feature compositions from the following classes: Advanced Computer Music, Seminar in Experimental Music & Digital Media, and applied lessons in Experimental Music & Digital Media.

Our annual concert of massively-multichannel sound diffusion, Cinema for the Ears, will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 in the new 72-channel Digital Media Center Theater. This concert is FREE and open to the public. It features electronic music compositions and sonic art by EMDM students and faculty.

Our semester-culminating High Voltage concert, a showcase of student acousmatic electroacoustic compositions, is upon us! The concert will take place Monday 28, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the LSU School of Music. This year’s concert features Collin Babb, Kaley Carroll, Laurel Chauvin, Matthew Depaula, Charles Ian Doucet, Joseph Dumas, Trey Duplantis, Rashad Grace, Ritchie Hofmann, Chase Hoselle, Dominick Licciardi, Harold Mims, Rob Reich, Victoria Simmons, Rachel Smith, Vindotco Torns, Brandon Turner, and Jack Weinnig.

Our annual massively multi-channel concert, Cinema for the Ears, approaches! We are tremendously excited for this year’s concert, which will be the first to use our new 72-channel sound theater at the brand new Louisiana Digital Media Center. The concert will feature multi-channel works by undergraduate students, graduate students, professors, and visiting artists. Mark your calendars!

EMDM graduate and undergraduate students presented this March at the national conference NSEME (National Student Electronic Music Event) held at Georgia Southern.

Trey Duplantis showed his installation “Goodness Gracious” which is a version of the video game Galaga that is played by a piano. The artwork was written in the Processing programming environment.

Will Conlin showed VOX (2013) for two vocalists and two iPad’s controlling Max/MSP with OSC.

Nick Hwang had his composition Dracones Nursery for augmented saxophone performed.

Yemin Oh performed his work Synesthetic Moment for piano and live electronics.
